Albatross L-39 was/is the basic traing aircraft in Warsaw pact and other countries. When I joined the Afghan Aviation University, I started my basic training flights in this beautiful bird in Afghanistan.

After completion of my practical period, I was selected as instructor for L-39 but the regiment commander refused and selected me for Mig-21 (our regiment commander was flying five types of planes including Mig-21).

Once when I was flying in L-39 before my graduation I hit a bird right above the runway (1m from touchdown).

Very nice aircraft - and I prefer one as a private jet as it's so economical plane.
