Story about Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bomber creation. Actually, this is short history of Soviet bomber aviation development. You will see legendary Tu-144 creation process, some footages of Tu-16, Tu-95 and even M-50 in Tushino, on famous parade of 1961.
And, of course, unique footage of “Blackjack” by the NATO designation, or “White Swan” as Russian pilots call it. And I think such name fits this beautiful plane much better.
Russian langueage, “Oruzhie Rosssii” (Weapons of Russia) series.

Hiya all,
Toker, you need to install the VP codec. Please go to the following website and d/l it.

And by the way, Pavel, a great website and a gift to us less fortunate people, who were deprived of the great Russian aviation till now. Bravo. In German, we say, Sie sind ehrlich toll. Vielen Dank Herr Pavel.
Thanks a lot for the effort.
Best wishes,
Mat

Hi Pavel,
I presume most or all of us can’t play this clip. Is possible for you to do something to enable us playing this video?
Thanks,

Yes, unfortunately this video can’t be played in standard Windows Media Player 10. Instructions, how this video can be played you may find here, on the forum: Problems with playing video FAQ

Hello There!
Does anybody knows, why Nato reporting name of Ty 160 is Black Jack? What does they mean under the “Black Jack” and why it applicable to this aircraft?
For example Tu 95 reporting NATO name is ” Bear”. And it is easily to understand, because it looks like and sounds like the bear.

The story is much more simple
All the NATO designations has the following logic behind it:
B - bombers (BlackJack, Bear, Backfire)
F - fighters (Fulcrum, Flanker, Floffer, Fishbed)
C - cargo (Cock, Cossack, Curl)
H - helicopter (Hind, Hokum, Havoc)
