Beautiful aircraft and if I am not mistaken they did it without stealing technology from us or anyone else. Hats off to those guys for a great job is scaring the pants off our government back in the 50s. I was just a kid then but I can remember all the adults running around buying materials to build bomb shelters. I’d love to have the chance to fly one of those things.

A truly magnificent and wonderful aircraft. 53 years since her maiden flight she hasn’t lost her grace. Those aircraft that use to escort her are now retired but the old lady is still flying!

There was also a passenger service aircraft.It is a very good design. and the turboprop engine. It was ahead of its time.Its a very unique and sexy aircraft.

Truly one of the greatest designs ever. Their durability is a proven fact - Taken out of mothballs after several years and back in front line service. We should never underestimate the Russians.

This is surely one of the most beautifully designed, large aircraft. It seems the Russians were miles ahead of the rest of the world in propellor design. Although it must have been a terribly noisy aircraft for the crew, its airodinamically perfect shape is truly aweinspiring.
