13 august is an official mourning day in Russia
By Pavel | August 13, 2008 on 9:47 am | In # Avia news | 3 CommentsAccording to President Medvedev’s decree 13 august is an official mourning day in Russia. This day wwe all mourn about victims in South Ossetia conflict.
Till today there are no exact numbers by the killed civilians, but during the conflict it was named from 1600 till 2000 of the Tskhinvali habitants.
Besides, deputy commander of the staff Anatoly Nogovitsin has announced losses among the Russian peacemakers. It’s one officer and 17 soldiers and sergeants. 52 people are wounded, including 58′th army commander general Anatoly Hrulev and two officers. Besides 14 soldiers and sergeants are MIA.
In addition it was news reporters who was killed or wounded.

President Medvedev has ordered to stop all the peace-enforcement activities.

Russian army has withdrawn from Senaki town, Georgia

22:43 Moscow time. Russian Ministry of Defense: Russian peacemakers and supporting military forces has left Senaki. They’ve neutralized the treat of South Ossetia and peacemakers positions attack by second Georgian infantry brigade and has left the town.

Russian army has reached Senaki town, Georgia

17:54. Russian army has reached Senaki town, Georgia. Russian Defense Ministry representative has officially stated that Russian forces are performing actions to prevent further artillery strikes over Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers. Besides, these activities aimed to prevent concentration of the forces, immobilized by Saakashvili to continue military activities. For example, near Senaki concentrated second infantry brigade of the Georgian army.

Russian AF casualitites - 2 planes
By Pavel | August 10, 2008 on 5:48 pm | In # Avia news | No CommentsNo matter what Georgian press says - at last there is official information from the Russian deputy Chief of Staff Anatoly Nagovitsin: Russian Tu-22 was shot down by S-200 AA complex, wich was provided to Georgia by Ukraine. In addition, there is info that Ukraine has provided Georgia with Tor missile systems.
Still, in spite of information from Georgian press, Russia announce two plane casualities - Tu-22M3R and Su-25.
Tu-22 crew is safe and in the russian hospital now.
There is no information about Su-25 crew, but it is very possible they’ve been captured by the Georgian side.
“We are not in war with Georgia, so we still have political contacts with Georgia governement, but for now there is no any reply about our people from their side”.

Australia buys Super Hornets

Australian government told on Tuesday that the country will acquire 24 F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and their equipment from Boeing. The deal is worth of $4,6 billion. These will fill the cap left by the existing 71 less capable F/A-18A/Bs and the Vietnam era F-111s that are expected to retire from service in 2010.

Russian Air Force fleet will be renovated by 2020

Air Forces Commander-In-Chief Vladimir Mikhailov has announced that all the Russian Air Force fleet will be totally renovated by the 2020.
“By 2020 all our fleet will be replaced with new one by each branch of aviation. Every branch of Russian Air Forces has up to 200 aircrafts” said Vladimir Mikhailov.
