  7. i think india should go for F-16 and Rafale Both bcoz it requires a Single Engine Small Multi Role Attack Fighter(Mig-29 is a Two Engine) which Can Repalce Their Ageing Fleet fo Mig 21 And Mig 23.By Going For F-16 India Will Get Cutting Edge Technology From Usa Like AESA and By Rafale India can Utilize the Production Line For Mirage-2000 which is in Banglore and Require Minimum Changes .

  8. Eurofighter Typhoon is the first choice india has, even though it is expensive say we can only buy 90 instead of 126. Don’t forget about the good service ceiling of western fighers. Every 400hrs. they service the plane and it comes out new. Other thing is that these planes will be serving in iaf upto year 2050. In 45 minutes the crew of six can prepare the plane for next sortie including change of EJ200 engine. By 2012 surely europeans will have a good AESA rada with GaN chips which can be Air cooled. Plus the benefits if India can get deep TOT including making engines and everything.Think of the jump indian industry can take with this sort of thing. Even if we buy 200 Mig-35s only 50 of them will be ready to fly at any given time given the poor manufacturing quality of russians. While out of 90 planes of Eurofighter or Rafael quality at least 80 will be ready at any given time. So instead of Having 7 squadrons of mmrca we can have 5 squadrons of mmrca. Even we can have EL/M-2052 AESA for the mmrca. The only other fighter which can give competetion to Typhoon is Rafael due to its better Air to Ground capabilities. And both of them are getting new AESA from sampe European company.

  9. Sorry forgot to add that we can have extra 7 squadrons of Tejas instead of two less squadrons of Typhoon. This way we can have more number of Fighter squadrons too.

  10. i think indian air force should split the tender into three pars and buy-rafale(40),eurofighter(40) and mig-35(46). india has requisite infrastructure to manufacture mig-35 and it can utilise its mirage-2000 assembly line for rafale with some changes .eurofighter is top of the line and is one of the best fighters in service around the world and therefore india ought tohave it as it will give india much needed technological edge over PRC and Pakistan.and moreover with mig-35 we will have access to aesa radar
