  2. So… this is basically the military version of the ‘29-OVT right?

  3. Awesome shots, awesome crew, awesome plane!!!

I love the various close-up shots, especially the FLIR.

  4. Kasperl, actually no. Question is not correct, Mig-35 is not ’simply Mig-29OVT but without OVT’.

Mig-29OVT is just Mig-29M-based frame for the OVT engine demonstration, no radars, no nothing.

Mig-35 is the two-seater fighter for the Indian medium fighter tender with great new avionics including AFAR Zhuk. And no OVT engine, btw.

  5. Does anybody know will mig-35 enter service with russian air force. I mean will Russian air force buy mig-35 or they will wait on 5th generation PAK-FA.

  6. According to this: “…Mikhailov is absolutely convinced that MiG-35 will be very wanted both by Russian Air Forces and…” (source: Russian Air Force fleet will be renovated by 2020) it is very possible.

  9. very nice but its not that good if MIg want to stand to the current Fighters its should come with a fighter at leats like F22 JSF, or S47, not an advance version of MIG 29 …..!!!!!!

  10. Pavel, from what I read in “Airforces Monthly” the MiG-35 was actually designed for the IAF requirements (ie to make it more attractive to the IAF.) But it does not mean the RusAf will not want the type, albeit in a much more advanced form, with the TVC (OVT) in place.

  11. i love this aircraft. i wonder though, if the Russian air force is to buy this aircraft, how it preforms compared to the su-35 (or the latest versions of the su-30 like MKI) that the russians supposedly already produced? remember that the Russikis are planing to replace their old mig-29s and su-27 with the “PAK FA” (Perspektivnyi Aviatsionnyi Kompleks Frontovoi Aviatsyi => Future Air Complex for Tactical Air Forces) fighter within less than a decade from now..

respect and regards form argentina, sebastián.

  12. hawk - yes, exactly. This plane is for IAF medium fighter tender. And as I said - Mikhailov is very positive to see this plane in RusAF. But still - no exact orders for now.

  16. Making the best use of a airframe that has been proven. I like that, hats off Mikoyan.

  17. Mig-35 would be a good match for f-16, f-15s and f-18s jets, as cute as it may look however, there are more to it than meets the eye, the Mig would be no match to the YF-22 Raptor.

  18. its a great aircraft! but can anyone tell me whether the IAF will buy this plane?

  19. The MiG-35 looks like a beautiful fighter, and can easily whoop on the F-15 and F-18s. However, it’s just not enough.

  22. Would like to inform Hawk and Sebastian that the SU 30 MKI with TVC was introduced into the Indian Air Force a couple of years ago. #20, Lightining squadron being the recepients and are also the first operational fighter squadron in the whole wide world to use TVC controlled fighters. Mind you, it takes much less than these MKI’s to whop the asses of USAF F15c and F16 block50 as demonstrated in various exercises conducted between these two air forces.

  23. This airframe looks the same as the MIG 29. A very good fighter which has beaten the F15 Eagle in exercises. However, lets not forget that to date, no F15has ever been lost in combat. Even though the F15 is now an old aircraft it is still good. Is it correct that new electronics in the MIG 35 makes existing stealth obsolete. The USA is currently working on cloaking which not so long agom was strictly sci-fi.

  24. What is its approximate cost…???

  25. VERY GOOD PLANE.

    Comment by ABR — May 9, 2008 #

  26. i think india should buy this jet over eurofighter or F16 or rafale. this is one superb russian engineering genius! Mig-29 is a proven short range combat fighter and can beat any other jet of modern time. the reason F16 or F15 have never been destroyed in combat is because USA or Israel have fought war with F16 only against forces which either did not have airforce or a very old one. and Turkey did not enter into a big war involving air superiority conflict. most important thing is Indian Mig-29 in kargil war almost locked on an escaping pakistani F16, which managed to escape only because the Mig29 was ordered to retreat. India should definitely buy the Mig-35(it’s whole new story than Mig-21)

  28. Sick ass plane. does it come in black

  29. It was an awesome bird, but no point buying it unless it is really gonna be put in action. Such a huge investment, and then only the pilots get the privelige to enjoy by flying sorties, is totally unfair. Anyways it is indeed an awesome bird. Good luck.

  30. The Mig-35 is truly an awesome awesome machine…. looks fantastic and the avionics are cutting edge…. i have enormous respect for this bird!!!! Russians keep up the great work and hopefully one day we will see russian made aircraft destroying and completelly embarrasing USAF and US Navy…

  31. great aircraft, I think this new plane is going to beat all other similar aircraft all the world. We(cuban aircraft lovers)respect the MiGs, we think that they are one the best planes of the world.Greetings from Cuba!

  32. Great show plane. But, What good is a plane if the maker can’t provide the supplies and support needed to keep it flying in a war??? No disrespect to the makers - they have a fine plane. But, I’d rather be in a fully supported Mirage than a Mig-35 with little parts support.
Keep dreaming, Yank haters. And get real. As for the next generation Russian planes - well, same story.

    Comment by Rod Gonzalez — December 26, 2008 #

  33. Great show plane, like all Russian products, but no after-sale support. I’d rather have an air force with Mirages with plenty of spare parts and support than a beautiful Mig-35 that can’t stay in the air because of no parts, and engines and systems that need constant attention. As for the technology - US fighters wouldn’t use it - it’s primitive. Get a life, Yank haters. A Typhoon or Rafale will do if you hate the Yanks that much.

  34. Hopefully FAP`s (Fuerza Aerea del Peru) next bird??

We are already using the MiG 29 SMT version that FAP purchased on 1997 and 1998.

Can we besides buying new MiG 35`s upgrade the MiG 29`s we already have??

Greetings from Lima Peru (The Land of Pisco and Inkas)
