Ok, guys. Another Aviapedia feature for you (I'm quite active lately, don't you think?
)Aviapedia gallery: http://www.aviapedia.com/photos/ As well as Aviapedia itself, Aviapedia Gallery is open project too. What does it mean? It means, everybody, who wants to keep his own aviation photos (or maybe just his collection of photos which are free to share) at one place and make them viewable for everybody - can keep them in Aviapedia Gallery. Examples: - osuorsa could keep there his brilliat collection of Su-family photos - zb could keep there the unique photos (like Su-34 cockpit) he is collecting from other sites (with links to the sources) - Graywolf could make the gallery of his LockOn screenshots there - Pavel could upload more his photos from Monino museum - Acheron could add more of the brilliant photos from Cruceiro Do Sul-Cruzex military excercise - Samson could add some photos from the exhibitions etc. As you may see, a lot of variants how to use it, not only uploading own photos, but keeping and sharing you favorite photo collections too. I'm still testing the gallery software, but usability is absolutely great: - bulk photos uploading from the web-form, as common, but many files at once) - bulk photos uploading from the web-form using one zip file (gallery will unzip and will create albums, by the subfolder names, if necessary) - bulk photos uploading from the ftp (just get in touch with me, I will give you ftp access) - bulk photos uploading from the web In addition to regular function of thumbails generation, you don't need to care about image sizes - all the images you upload will be resized to some standart ones. And if you care about copyrights - nobody will see the original image, only resized ones. So you simply upload images from your camera - everything else will be done automatically. Ok, what you need to do to start use it - you need to register there (I will approve the registration) and start sharing. Beta-testers of the system are forum visitors, but I hope when we will publish it, it will attract more people, which will bring us more interesting photos. The main point of photos to be added - they should be good, means quality (own photos - in maximum quality, photos from internet - not less then 640*480,exceptions can be made for very rare and unique photos) and meaningfull. Q: What's the point to put photos on the gallery, while I can attach them to the forum? A: Several. First of all - you can't attach 100 photos to the forum, but when there are some shows or exhibitions - there are much more of them. So you attach couple of photos to the announcing forum post, everything else in gallery. Second - it's quite hard to find a picture that you saw once one the forum, but don't remember where it was. Gallery is excellent tool to keep photos you like at one place. Last edited by Pavel : 05-29-2007 at 07:22 AM. |

Samson, follow the "Register" link. Alexej - registration approved. I've thought about main idea and it will be the following. Everybody (who wants) will have it's own gallery, with albums, like on every photo-sharing service. The best single photos, or event-related numerous pics will be added to some thematical albums (Like FiAF gallery of Olli, for example) by me. I think this way it will be ok for both - personal albums and selected collections of pics. BTW, I've added captions for the Monino photos, so go check them out: http://www.aviapedia.com/photos/v/airshows/monino/ Alexej - definitely, after some beta-testing, and after we will add some more photos (and I will) I will put Photos button on the main Aviapedia page and we will start spreading photos world-wide ![]() With Chat I'm still thinking - most of the time it's empty, it looks annoying if to call it public service. Though, today I was nicely surprised meeting in chat Samson and Dmitry ![]() |
