I did not know. But I do know that manned military flight (any generation planes we can call them) is rapidly going out of fashion as main tool in warfare. Sorry or not. To be the largest just before sundown is like finishing the race long after the others have collected the medals. The USA did the same thing when they screwed up a global situation which was quite dominated by their interests by jerky greediness for oil, when the rest of the world (and many US demand too) are competing for other energy-sources. Like killing for a horse and buggy in the age of automobiles. In these forums of aviapedia we do not address much the non-manned aviation's various forms, so this is undertandable oversight. But by a decade or two- the largest leaps (by orders of magnitude) occured not in the manned flight, but in automated, autonomous and nanotechnology flyers' world. So in a future conflict the airspace defenders may need more fishing nets towed than ever larger AAM-s. About wars and history it can be seen that minimal losses and victories usually go to those who do not expect repetition of previous conflicts, but utilize well-developed but totally new concepts and hardwares. Regardless of what I mentioned - I am also mostly interested in manned aviation. But of course, I am an old fart.
