Hello;
I am not speaking russian, but I am from Bosnia country with South Slavic peoples. I watch Udarnaja sila episode about Tu-22m3 and I understand that tu-22m3 modernization is underway and that their service life would be increase. But I don't understand for how long. I think that they say for "sorog let", which means 40 years. So, because these aircraft were produced 1984-1992, that means they will stay in service minimum till 2024-2032. Is this correct? |

In all respect, these aircrafts are amazing, like all Russian based aircrafts. But unlike the SU-35BM and the PAK FA, all their other aircrafts are upgrades from those in the past. They should just try to fund a possible cheaper and more effective rout for future aviations to completely replace these TU-22 and SU-27 upgraded variants, or Mig-29 variants (Mig-31 should stay, as it is amazing as it is).

From what I've read, yes to around 2020-25 Quote:
I disagree...the bomber fleet inherited from the Soviet Union is actually in pretty good shape due to them not being flown much until the last couple of years. As most of them were built during the second half of the 80's and were hardly flown during the 90's, it makes sense to upgrade them. The TU-22M Backfire is a formidable aircraft and is available in large numbers. When modified to carry the latest generation PGMs it gives the VVS a distinct edge over any other airforce in the Eurasian continent. There are reports that among other weaponry, it will carry 2 x Kh-101 (102) long range cruise missiles (approx 5000 km range) |
