I also didn't know, but I made a small search, you will find some useful information in Wikitravel: http://wikitravel.org/en/North_Korea
If you have a US passport, it seems it will be quite dificult to get there.

By the way, there is an off-topic section, called idle talk.

Cool many did

Of course, not directly from the US of A. But from most other countries, from the Asian continent - there are flights to there. The most common way is with a stopover in China. (Unless you have a girlfriend in Nepal for example).
In Beizhing you can get the visa and it is the State Dept., not the N.Korean government that will give you the creeps (read the Travel Advisories and Prohibitions). If you are Russian - use your Russian passport. The N.Koreans will watch you anyway, regardless of your origins. But I have yet to hear an example that they give trouble to anyone else but those arriving in large uniformed groups, armed and with no passports. Got my drift?

CFcops will become famous soon enough
Default it seems likely

Well, lets say if the government of NK just cut off all flights and whatnot off of the country, imagine what kind of impact that would have on the economy. I never really gave this any thought, but I still guess that tourism would be a large source of money. It would also probably cut off trade too.

PS It's nice to be leeching intenet again.
