Yes, terrible. Fortunately Russia reacted and sent its troops to South Ossetia. It is quite clear that the aggression came from the Georgian side, who made a proposal for peace talks and all of a sudden launched a full military operation.

From the aviation point of view, I would like to know which kind of aircraft Russia is operating there. Perhaps they sent modernized Su-25SM and Mi-24P? But I think it will not be possible to get this information now.

Russian peacekeepers has called for the air support 7 times, 4 times Mi-24 we flying out just to push Georgian Su-25 out. From soviet side it's MiG-29 as recon all the time in the air, and Mi-24 with KMGU and FAB-100, on the ready Mi-24 with AAMs and Igla's. On the ground it's Ossetinian Igla's and Russian Tunguskas.

Losses. From the beginning artillery strikes were corrected by the israeli UCAV's. They were taken down (looks like by jamming hardware - loosing link with base UCAV goes down). Near Tskhinvali Ossetenian army has taken down Georgean Su-25 with Igla. Later Georgean has lost three Iroquois UH-1 helis with rifles and maybe Russian BMP 30 mm gun. Later Russian Mi-24 pilot saw on the ground crashed two Georgean Su-25, one old MiG (maybe MiG-21) and Mi-24 squad took down another UH-1.

Thanks for the info, Pavel! Any information on Russian aircraft losses? Georgia claims to have shot down two Russian jets, according to RIA Novosti.

Georgea claims that Russia has bombed Tskhinvali with Grads.
I mean - bullshit, at least for now. Let's hope it will stay like this.

Georgia is cutting Russia broadcasting on their country.

Just saw on the Russian 1st channel Georgean Su-25 shot down, get down as fireball... canopy felt down a little bit a side of the main crash site... They didn't say who made it, and what has happened with the pilot.

Earlier it was said russin bomber has striked and damaged the strip at Marneuli airfield, south-west Georgia. In addition military base in Vaziani was bombed as well as towns Gori and Kareli (have no idea what does it mean exactly - just passing the info).

Surely to try to avoid the Georgian population from knowing the great fiasco this military operation was. It seems that Russian and South Ossetian troops now have already full control of Tskhinvali and its outskirts.

In general, Russian soldiers say: Georgian do not know war at all. Keeping ammunition right near the Grad artillery - whople complex easily can be taken off with one C-8 or even gun. Columns are going in 70-80 vehicles and tanks in formation without any AA cover (no shilkas, no nothing) - 3 minutes job for the Mi-24 squadron.
Russian base has couple of Tunguskas, but nevertheless Georgian Su-25 were coming - ground was tracking him, but it was no order. Russian Mi-24 equipeped with 8Kor blocks instead of unguided missiles.
There is Favorite in the mountains, covering all the area till Tbilisi.

Almost forgot. Georgia is using Su-25 Israeli upgraded. Sometimes they carry not R-60 or 73, but something like R-3(13) (exact words of the person who reports, have no idea what does it mean)

Later today (8. 8. 8. ) , couple of Mi-24 has attacked column more than 30 vehicles, were fired two blocks of 8Kor and were performed 12 attacks.

In the Tskhinvali about 30 Georgean tanks are destroyd by Ossetians.

Could it be K(R)-13, the old Soviet AAM which appeared as a copy of AIM-9B? If it is so, Georgians are using pretty obsolete equipment!
