Excellent, Su-25!
Lucky pilot!
Was it an IR-rocket? And If so, can You find out was it our or western and something about arrangement of impact (because IR-traps didnt help).
Now I clearly understand - two angines better then one.

Default lessons again

These comments are good (unfortunately). The equipment was fine, but it is mind-numbing how many times the real thorough lessons can be ignored over and over again.
1. In most cases it is not the equipment that brings success or failure.
It is humans using it (poorly or well). These were clearly avoidable.
2. From these operations (as well as many in Chechen land and Afghanistan)
reeks the gross overconfidence of the commands. ("We are superpowers,
we are allmighty, all opponents will just freeze if they here that WE are
coming"....Well in life that ain't necesseraly so.)The ASSUMPTIONS (which always make an ASS of U and ME...)
were clearly that this will be a peace of cake...
3. Pilot training: It seems clear that these pilots took off for a "sightseeing ride"-and found later that they are in combat zone.

I am not military expert or even fan. But flight training and recognising pilot errors have been a long time interest and even part of profession for me.
The more you train-the easier is the real task. Save the sweat in the school and you will face a hard life out there...
But good pilots even after many victories will know that there are missed opportunities even in the best flights and constantly strive to improve themselves, not thinking that the opposition is paralised, bumbling and terrorised idiots.
Preparations have to be made BEFORE, not after the combat.
More preflight (much more than these cases showed) planning, so no one misses the postflight evaluation!

My question is do Georgian Su-25 have side number under the canopy?

Ok, in some older pictures they have number under the canopy, but pictures presenting modified Su-25 Scorpion have their three digit number painted to the intake cover.
