When my dad lived in India for a while, he gone to an Indian air show, which featured many Russian based jets. Reading upon online, India acquires these multi national jets for testing, and usually picks the best one they can 1) acquire for a great price and 2) provide above average performance. And usually their planes are Russian.

One minor detail I noted was that ALL of the crew in the Finnish Air Force seemed to be so young that at their age in most other country they would be riding skateboards, not Hornets. That does not reflect badly and not a value-judgement, nor a bias...just comperative observation.
