  2. I think its main target to be largest heli in the world :) Other points I’m not able to name. Besides, its not in operational use, so from the flying ones Mi-26 stays the biggest.

  3. This helo was created to carry ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) in pair with An-22 plane.

In result there should be invulnerable mobile strategic system.

But the railway-based variant was choosen as not so expensive, so Mi-12 remained without a purpose.

  4. Americans copy this for the “Osprey”. Now we know were the American V22 “Osprey” comes from! My god, Russians and Americans just keep stealing designs from each other! They copy the design from the other and do some little modifications, add some new/modern technology and whaala….the new plane! It is kind a getting old when they try to take all the credit for it! blah!

  6. Can’t agree. Two completely different helis, different technologies, different tasks to solve.

It’s the same like to compare, I don’t know, heavy truck and school bus - they both have engine and four wheels. But it doesn’t mean they are the same.
