I read about this big bird today in an Alberta magazine where they are using it to transport oil and gas drilling rigs into the far north so I therefore had to google it to find out more. All I have to say is "WOW".What a bird!I have flown quite a bit in Bells and have worked with a "Sky Crane" once and can't wait to see this baby in action.

I think this is more of logistical lift helo, as it's been stated it's slow and vulnerable to weapon's fire! And as such I don't believe that it should be used as a tactical lift bird.

for those that are interested.
This Monster, has a lifting capacity similar to the C130 Hercules. Its eight main rotors are among the largest ever constructed and its rotor head is pure engineering genius.
It is a true achievment in rotory wing flight and full respect should to the beauty of this aircraft.
Mil Mi 26 Halo, though not built in huge numbers, serves with peace keeping forces, and is even in the military.
I would hate to be in the shadow and rotor wash of this gargantuan piece of work.
