British airforces prepared airfield for fifth-generation fighters

F-35 take-offRoyal Air Forces of Great Britain choosed the airfiled for fifth-generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighters disposition. It’s being said on Great Britain Ministry of Defence press service site.

Fighters will stand on RAF Lossiemouth airbase. First F-35 will be supplied to RAF by 2010. They will replace Harrier fighters which are on service today.

Lossiemouth was one of the eight airbases were reviewed by RAF command as a place for F-35 to dispose.

During the year special Ministry commision was choosing the only one airfield from eight of them. The main factors affected on RAF choice were close base position to the training centers and it’s modern equipment.

In near future RAF is going to choose another airfield for fifth-generation fighters. Today are being reviewed two variants - airbases Marham and Cottesmore.
