this is going to be awesome. the us and columbia are going to be able to shoot down the same F16 that they purchased from the US. not only does the US get a nice sale, they get to take out the inventory. chavez is a second rate mini dictator with a God complex who is trying to deal himself into the game. problem is that the game is over and has moved on

well by the date, we had receibe a bath of those SU-30mk2 (about 16) and the brand new 3dradar jus arrived from china, we have just camea pair of thor M1 batteries, and waiting for the log-medium range s-300v missiles, all this convined whit the coming A-50 AWACS plane, will do a good job, in venbezuelan air defense sistem

Yes, I´m agree wjit Mr. Adeenas, the main fct of US politics, It´s that tjey never sell any weapon that can be use against them in a future, so they never will sell a log range air to air or SAM missile to some contries that they consider not too “friendly”, liky ny country for example, here in Venezuela, we bought couple dozen of F-16 but they just came armed whit Sidewinder missiles, and refuse to sell Sparrow medium range missile, as you see, they know what they do. otherwisw, those news Sokhoi SU-30mk2 that Venezuela just buy, cane whit a full pack of weaponry, including long range air to air and air to surface missile, so you can see the diference.

Any countries around the world need to upgrade their own aircraft fighter due to higher maintenance for some of their old equip and reasons.This is fact.
But the question why most of the develope country bought aircraft fighter from europe and russia…
For examples, why Pakistan didn’t received their f-16 from US even they have made a full payment(i guess)?…it happened in Osama Laden period.
Why US restricted country like Malaysia to purchased only medium range missile and a basic avionic for their FA-18D?..and they find solution by upgrading their new fighter to su-30mkm from Russia?…
Same things happened to Indonesia, India, Venezuela and some other new developed country. Its all about US policies towards their so called ’small country’.At the end Russia & Europe gets the benefit from it. Think about it.

I think a good air force, it´s not just a good aircraft dotation, We can do too much wiht 24 su-30 and a coouple dozen of F-16… the fact is that to protect main cityes and facilitys it´s necessary to have a good air defense system… that wy Venezuelan goverment adquire a brand new air defence from russia. State of the art 3D an 2D radar sistem coupling wiht the best Missile convunation, that S-300MPU and thor-M1, well keep any aircraft or cruise missile far from the objetive. that will ensure a secure air space even again Stealht type aircrat

well i´think Mr. DiDi and other get this comment turned into a political fact. this is supose to be a aeronautical an aircraft web site, so any political opinion It´s out of place, anyway, if My Country decide to buy russian fighters, we don´t hav to explain anybody wy we do it… i think SU-30 is a good adquisition, and if we can keep those F-16 in good shape,(thanks to some F-16 part suplyers) we can get a good air force, small but modernized. then we´ll recibe a number of SU-25/39 to complete a attack scuadron for the navy plus these yak-140 for light atack and trainig, this will be in a couple years

Luis Loichet, venezuela is negligent on its fight against drug problems, there are no cooperation with Colombia or US for fighting this issue.

The better corridors for drug cartels are crossing by Venezuela, the drug lords uses very low perfomance aircraft as cessnas or piper with reciprocating engines, due to this SU-30 and F-16 are useless.

So you are wrong about they need this planes to fight drug problems.

Venezuela is developing an armamentistic race for all South America, their SU-30 wants to show Military Power from an emerging country. that’s why they join MercoSur and leave CAN.

Dear Luis Loichet,don’t take wrong, I am not trying to put your country down.I know president Chavez is doing a lot for his country ,but I lived long enough to know when a head of state in falling in prestige trap ,what we call in french ” folie douce”.
Remember,you have 47% of venezuelans living in poverty and 12.5% unemployment rate.There is room for improvement..
