Il-2 Shturmovik

Il-2 Shturmovik

This plane can be seen in Szolnok, Hungary, at the Repüléstörténeti Múzeum.
Found in lake Balaton at Balatonkenese in 1999 by fishermen. Shot down around 1944's fall - spring of 1945, the most possible date is March 22 1945 when serious fights were reported in the area and several Il-2s were downed.

Crewmembers not found, the plane made a relatively smooth landing on the lake, the canopy was open, belts unfastened.
