Another brilliant material from “Smotr” series. You will see everyday duty of the Russian carrier aviation - take-offs, landings, trainings… and losses - Timur Apakidze, the founder and enthusiast of carrier aviation, he created almost everything of what Russian naval aviation is about today. Starring: Su-33, Su-33KUB, Su-25UTG.
Russian language.
If you like “Smotr” series - please, check this out, it’s important.

It is an interesting video. I can see the Russian pilots flying, practising, playing,… The carrier and the Su-33 fleet is very nice.

it is times like these that i enjoy the U.S. naval supiriority. i mean, who can look at that carrier with pride? im dissapointed with idea of taking a monster jet like the SU-33 and putting it on an extremely small carrier. Russia has a long way to come with their naval force. but best of luck!

I tend to think it potent no matter what it’s size.
Think of the pilots behind those controls. They’re pros. Veterans. They could give our Top Gun graduates a run for their money, easily.
BTW, I’m wondering if someone could fill me in on this: What is it with the Orange suits that the Su-33 pilots are wearing?

Flanker-D is a very capable platform with excellent pilots. However, Russian Navy pilots don’t get the flight hours that, say, USN pilots get. The Russian Navy just doesn’t have the money.
The orange suits make it a lot easier to spot a pilot in the sea. These may be exposure suits (poppy suits). If something goes wrong with the plane while you’re flying over the Barents Sea you really want to get pulled out of the water PDQ before your freeze to death. So you wear a very uncomfortable poppy suit and color it a nice bright color.
