Ya conocemos bastante del Mig-29, sin embargo sería muy interesante conocer más acerca de este avón. Veo que Pavel sigue detrás de los nuevos diseños y ello es bastante garantía de buen desempeño del avión. Esperaré más buenas nuevas.

F-14s, F-15s, F16s, and F-22s can dominate the Mig-35.
Comment by Ace — January 25, 2007 #
Ace - You´re kidding! F-14,-15-16??? LoL! Just the F-22 can maybe dominate the MiG-35…
Comment by BaSiC — January 26, 2007 #
BaSIC is rigth I bet a mig-29 could beet those planes let alone a mig-35.(I speek of the F-14 F-15 and F-16)Cause they can proform tail drops.(it can “stall” in midair, fall down backwards and recover.

Oh Yhea Baby, Indian Airforce will be the first One to Handle.
Indian MRCA deal for New 124-200 Aircrafts Deal will be sure go to the MiG-35
Comment by indian_sukhoi — February 5, 2007 #
MiG-29 and 35 will only win in a BVR engagement. In BVR, a MiG doesn’t stand a chance. Stalling in a BVR engagement does nothing.
Comment by Donk — February 6, 2007 #
Sorry meant to say they would only win in a WVR engagement. My bad.
Comment by Donk — February 6, 2007 #
For american a european minds
it’s hard to accept that they aren’t invincible
but, the truth is they aren’t

Those days Western counterpart said Russian jet are away behind technology, but now the Russian proved it to all that they also can adopt new tech. too. Fly-by-wire controlled, digital display, awesome firepower,Hotas,TVC etc. all in a very good package.
In order to tell how good their new assets, they did it at Farnborough Airshow.Everybody knows…everybody love it…those Western jet looks so small at that show.
And Russia did a briliant solution on how to sell jets to other country, very contrary from US policies which is not in ‘win-win’ situation. Malaysian for instant, will get a bunch of super giant Su-30Mkm in which Russian sold with open radar/avionic system, barter trade concept(sounds classic),and single person will go to ISS(space) for free!
I do believe that there a many country out there prefered to do business with Russian coz they offer ‘win-win’ condition to both parties.
HIDUP RUSSIA!..

To Donk..any strike jet nowadays a capable to engage target in BVR, just the matter of what kind of strategies and system approach are different. In MiG and Su cases, they a capable to engage enemy target in BVR same as Western jet do, but ‘kulbit’, ‘cobra’, ‘tailslide’ and some other magic manoeuvres only used for close dog-fight engagement which definitely give no room for enemy to escape.

I wish we had at least MIG 25 foxbats to fight the british in 1982 .10 years later a Mig 25 shot down an F18 in Irak and in one case F15 F16 and F18 were chasing a MIG 25 Foxbat. That Mig escaped, they fired 10 missiles at the MIG.They could not reach it.That was over the fly-zone according to documents from Wikipedia.
The Mig 25 with a top red line of Mach 3.2 at the limit of their engines was kicking the american ass real hard in 1977 in my days as a schoolboy.
Clounish yanks were scare that with its ceiling capabilities of 24,000 meters was intended to shoot down SR-71s.
Nevertheless, I believe with some modifications even today that Mig can fill some particular missions of flight without rivals in this planet.
Gustavo
Wish we had Foxbats in 1982

It is really amazing how the anglo-saxon propaganda can blind public opinion as it has been
the case for more than 60 years.
In the WWII they thought they had the best fighter pilots in the world…..And when they read about German Aces inmidiatly go into insult and descredit mode…..saying that is not true.
Some of them get really pissed at the names of Hartmann,Rudel,or Marseille.
After their egos go shatered by history I smile….
Even with their limitations,at that time Russians were beter. Some “ruski” ace had more than 50 kills on the Eastern front, much to the despair of Anglos….
I drink to that…..
As I remember with pride, how our pilots fought in the South Atlantic 25 years ago.

Please! How can you said the F15 or the F14 or the chepear F16 will win against a Mig 35???. Nice aricraft, Russia had prove again how to do the things. Usa spend lot of money building that ugly F22 and expensive, and russian make a system which allow their aircraft to see usaf’s fighetrs. Ability vs money… Greetings from argentina for pavel. Excelent website. I’m agree with Gustavo ¡Que lindo tener mig 25 en las malvinas! or the su27 beautiful plane. F15 scream su 27 is locking you.
Comment by Fede — April 23, 2007 #
The MiG 35 is really a beautiful plane. Hope the IAF buys these machines. I’m a fighter pilot and I really want to fly ne. Maybe it could kill a few F 16s as repayment. IRST and radar superb. Bravo RSK MiG !!!!

Through some internet litreature I come to know that if MiG-35 would have deployed in Iraq against the allied nation forces, it would have shot down 90% OF THE INCOMMING MISSILE OVER THE IRAQ, THIS SHOW THE PRESENT UPGRADDATION OF MiG’S FIGHTER AND THE CPMPETITIVE RUSSIAN TECHNOLOGY.
The OLS system is unique, AESA radar make it more comfortable for air superiority role, the better engine reduces the cost of managing the fleet.
This is the only fighter jet in the world that can take on the prestegious US F-22 Raptor, and with technology that Russian still holding (not exposing the full potential of MiG-35) few technology of this fighter jet, it can easily supress the any existing current fighter jets.

I think all of us are forgetting something.
It is still the man who sits in the plane that matters. Better training and better support in the form of ECM and ECCM are the reasons why US has dominated most of the air wars they have participated in.
It is true that they are very cocky but one must credit them for their technological and training methods.
As for the Mig 35. i truly think with a similar support that the F22 recieves, the Mig 35 will prevail…
Comment by karadi — May 15, 2007 #
Its not the machine…its the man.
Nice airplane though.

very nice plane. i think its a great upgrade from the mig-29, as you know they upgraded my fav. plane the Mig-25RB that i fly into the Mig-31 foxhound that i wish we had in 1991 then they USAF will have the biggest defeat in history!

Of course F-15 or F-16 can not handle Mig-35 in any way , thats just talk from a guy that knows shit about avionics , but lets be serius Mig-35 is not in the same league as F-22 Raptor yet
Comment by xDx — July 10, 2007 #
To Gustavo Canas…True, American pilots can be very cocky but with good reason due to their training and fine aircraft. However I believe you do not understand WHY the German aces had so many “kills” in WWII. They entered target rich enviroments filled with brave but less-than-superbly trained pilots from many nations who were equipped with large numbers of obsolescent aircraft which made for easy kills. The Russians did a superb job against the Germans once they had been equipped with more up to date aircraft (and many of them)later in the war. Maybe this will be the case for the future with their superb SU-27, MIG-29, and MIG-35.

Innovative…probably the most advanced aircraft out there with the USA spending all its money elsewhere.

Anyone who thinks that an F-14 is a suitable match to the Mig-35 is a retard. As for the -15 and -16 in the hands of the right pilot they could compete with the MIg but with a well trained pilot the Mig would win. The difference that seems to be forgotten is that the Mig-35 is an upgrade of the -27. Glass cockpit, avionics, etc. The F-22 is an all new design built from the ground up. It is in service now. The follow up Mig and Sukoi next gen planes are still in the development stage. They will be formidable aircraft no doubt but they are not in service. And for the knuckle head who thinks that a Mig 25 would have helped win a war for Argentina you are very confused. The fact that the Foxbat was fast enough to run away from real dogfighters points this out. In your scenario would the Migs have joined the battle and then run away and claimed victory? A better air force at that time would have been nice, but there are 20 other types from all over the world that would been better than the -25.

I meant to say an upgrade from the Mig-29. oops…
Comment by Chris V — March 9, 2008 #
well sometimes, i got tired reading all this blabling… that the US fihgters are far away better tah those russians, or viceversa… well the fact is tjat since corean war, no russian and american fighter had a serius math in equal terms of technology, since f-86 vs mig-15 where the hability of the pilot made the diference, but recent encounter are really unequal… like those Navy F-14 vs sirian SU-22, obviusly F-14 where superior thanks to the better avionics an avanced weapon controls… but how can explain that an iraqui mig-25 shotdown an F-18 in the gulf war? been the last one much more modern fighter? and what to say about those maneuver in 2003-04 between Indians SU-30MKI and USAF F-15C? where the Indians pilots got an achievemet of 3:1 over those USAF fighters? so about what air superiority arw qe talking about?
Comment by PROAUDIO — April 5, 2008 #
The F-16 dominating any plane? Let alone a plane with a state of the art radar? The F-16 was ruled out as a serious contender when Sweden was shopping around for a new figher because it’s radar was far from sufficient in capability, I doubt the radars fitted to F-16s today would be good enough…
The F-14 has much more room for radar within the forward fuselage and the diameter of the nose is larger so naturaly it can be fitted with a much better radar than could be fitted in a Mig-29 airframe at the same tech-level, it goes for all airframes… Being a larger aircraft, the F-22 will allways be able to lug around a more capable radar than the F-35.
It’s a real eye opener to read “Introduction to airborne radar” by Gearge W. Stimson. He explaines alot about AESA radars and what benefits you get with them… It’s well worth reading before you start telling people what aircraft would win…
One thing most people here forget is what threats the respective aircraft were built to handle. Perhaps the Mig-25 wasn’t suppoused to fight F-18’s but rather fight F-4’s. It’s kind of like it is with political economics (driving forward but seeing only what’s in the rearview-mirror) You’ll never know if you succeded or failed until it’s too late to fix it. What kind of threat could emerge that renders the F-22 useless (besides “assymetric warfare”)??????
Establishing performace parameters for a new fighter is one thing, but you have to establish economic parameters as well before you figure out how to do it and if you want to go at it alone. Somewhere in those calculations you should have at least an idea of how many planes you need to buy to get the desired combined combat effect and singular combat effect.
The USA has chosen to buy the F-22 but it doesn’t seem like anyone cares if they get a hundred or a thousand of them as long as they get F-22’s instead of F-15’s.
I saw someone commenting on the staggering scores of WWII german aces, something about a targetrich environment and poorly trained opponents etc;
The luftwaffe had no rotation like the RAF so many pilots got alot of kills during the battle of Britain for instance… I don’t know if the Luftwaffe changed that policy. Marseille fought in north Africa againts british, commonwelth and americans equipped with Hurricanes, Spitfires, P-40’s and other types used there.
Finally, internet is not a reliable source of information! You can write what ever you want, it does not have to be true, it could be a flat out lie since the “publisher” is not lialbe like they would be if they printed it! There is no need for factchecking if it’s going to be on someone elses server(New York Times would of course be liable for what they publish on their server if it could be taken as facts as opposed to oppinions) I have read at least two different quotes on what the F-14D’s top speed is and the USN adds to the confution by having a third listed on their website… there’s internet litterature for you.
