so, what could be the role of the most advanced plane??? It would be better if they had the spitfires, at least spitfire can fly 400-500km/h like the commercial jet does. Well I watched that movie, I cant remember its name, but they explained everything, americans just have a lot of weapons which they must try and so on. Why they didn't made the new tank, but have one 30 years old. They just put some technics and thats it. Why didn't they on such way improved F-15 (which they did, now and F-16 is very very lethal for ground targets, carrying tons of useful bullshit which can not destroy something they don't know where is)

Every american plane has its competitor which is better or less good. I don't know what could be the role of such advanced aircrafts if some terrorist plant the nuclear device in NY downtown, or if some passanger plane crush the building which is predicted for such cases??? Or maybe the plane which crash at Pentagon where wasn't any remains of it. Do you know how looks the site where the plane crashed-its full of metal pieces, seats, and bodies...well there wasn't any of it....

This interesting video of the F-22 Raptor demonstrating its supermanouverability capabilities is at the following Internet URL address. (There are many such videos on YouTube.com, including those of Russian aircraft.)

F-22 Super Manouverability Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW2Hvu_mUdU&feature=related

And the following video is rather fun to watch. It is a real race down a runway of a fighter jet, a world-class sports car, and a really, really quick motercycle.

I find it interesting and curious that my comments about the F-15 and F-16 retrofit experiments and about how Iranian F-14s may have impacted the development the of the Su-27 and MiG-29 series have been deleted.

A beautiful, deadly, even extraordinary fighter, no doubt. Unfortunately for US pilots, the F-15 Eagle (a truly outstanding aircraft in its day, and still pretty darn good), though very successfully tested with retrofitted canards and thrust vectoring, was not budgeted, probably in favor of the next-generation US fighters like the F-22 and F-35 series.

Incidentally, the F-16 was also very successfully tested retrofitted with cranked delta wings and also canards, but even the production airframe retrofitted with just canards and an all-aspect thrust vectoring engine could make this excellent little aircraft extra deadly.

Anyway, with "relatively" little funding, the F-15 series could be zero-timed in the airframe, have avionics and weapons systems up-rated, have canards retrofitted, and have a more powerful and efficient thrust-vectoring engine installed. It may not reach the same performance levels as the Su-37 or the 4th generation MiG-29s, but it would be a quick and dirty up-rating that would at least put it in the same ballpark, possibly even making it nearly as deadly. More bang for the buck, as the saying goes. And, as in American football, on any given day, the best can be beaten. Of course, being the best is (usually) best, but also as the (Russian) saying goes, "Good enough is [usually?] good enough."

One last comment: The two Iranian F-14s complete with Phoenix missiles that Iran sold to Russia shortly after the fall of the Shaw's regime in 1979 undoubtedly aided the development and refinement of both the Su-27 and MiG-29 series (and possibly in the design or improvement of a Russian long-range missile as well?). (Reference: Aviation Week & Space Technology or, "Aviation Leak" as the US Government often calls it.) And please note that the preceding comment is in no way intended to take credit away from the cleverness (and downright genius) often demonstrated by Russian aircraft and missile designers, who, nowadays, seem to increasingly “think out of the box.”

Also, don't underestimate the Russian radar & ECM technology. All supporters of the "F's" always depend on BVR combat, that Sukhoi fighters will never be able to even get close to their "F's". That assumption is rather unrealistic. If we assume the latest Radar technologies from Russia to be put on an Su-37 for example, opposing the latest American technology put on F-22 for example. Then, Su-37 will easily detect and destroy any STEALTH fighter even in BVR simply using the advanced passive radar detection in the RVV missile. & lets assume F-22 has detected and launched a missile towards Su-37/ There are many several ways for the Sukhoi fighter to avoid that missile. Let alone the advanced ECM technologies, Su-37 can perform one of it's "simple" maneuvers & distract the missile by almost stopping in the air.
So, supporters of the "F's" it's really not so confident to assume that Su-37 will not even see the "F's" before they get blasted. Let's think logically before throwing judgments to the left & right. I like the "F's" as well, but my brain always gives superiority to Sukhois & MiGs ...

PS. I'm not gonna reply on more arguments, coz I'm really fed up with such arguments about who'll beat who. Some people seem not to be able to convince their patriotic hearts...

Have a nice day...

Desolate if a f 22 tries to het close in russian airspace a foxhound will bring it down in a heartbeat dont underestimate a russian plane for a minute and yes a su 37 will bring down any western plane with the right pilot.
